Some Chassis Selections by Teams for this race
#1-Jamie McMurray: Crew Chief Kevin "Bono" Manion and the #1 McDonald's team will bring chassis #1106 to Kansas Speedway this weekend. This is a brand new chassis.
#2-Brad Keselowski: The # Miller Lite Dodge team will use chassis PRS-747 during Sunday's STP 400 at Kansas Speedway. Brad Keselowski drove this chassis to an 18th-place finish at Bristol in March.
#6-David Ragan: Primary: RK-730 Last ran Vegas - finished 22nd; Backup: RK-695 Last ran Phoenix in 2010 as the No. 99 - finished first
#9-Marcos Ambrose: The #9 RPM team has prepared chassis No. 703 for the 400-mile event at Kansas. This Stanley Ford Fusion has not been run previously this season.
#14-Tony Stewart: Chassis No. 14-583: This car debuted last March at Las Vegas, where it qualified ninth and led twice for seven laps before finishing seventh. Prior to Las Vegas, it spent time in the wind tunnel. It returned to the track for a NASCAR-sanctioned test at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway March 23-24 before coming back to Charlotte for the Sprint All-Star Race, where it started 11th and finished a solid fifth. It revisited the wind tunnel in preparation for its third career start in July at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill. It qualified a strong third and finished ninth. It served as a backup at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City and at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., before returning for the 2010 season finale at Homestead-Miami. In that race, Stewart used Chassis No. 14-583 to rally from his 31st-place starting spot and overcome two instances where he was a lap down to finish eighth. During the offseason, the car was fitted with a new body and tested extensively in the wind tunnel. The Samsung Mobile 500 at Texas marked Chassis No. 14-583's fifth career start and first of 2011. It proved to be an interesting one, as Stewart rallied from his 26th-place starting spot, a pit road collision on lap 11 and a late-race pit road speeding infraction to still lead twice for a total of 12 laps before finishing 12th - its only finish outside the top-10. Chassis No.14-583 returns to action this weekend at Kansas for its second start of 2011 and first at Kansas.
#17-Matt Kenseth: RK-763 (last run at Dover)
#18-Kyle Busch: Chassis No. 308: This is a brand new chassis that is slated to see action for the first time in Sunday's STP 400 at Kansas Speedway.
#20-Joey Logano: The #20 Home Depot Team is taking chassis #290 to Kansas Speedway this weekend. This will be the first race of the season for this chassis, however Logano piloted chassis #290 once last year in the season-finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The back-up chassis is #275 that Logano most recently drove in the Martinsville race following a practice crash that damaged his primary car. He went on to finish the race in the 13th position.
#22-Kurt Busch and his Steve Addington-led "Double-Deuce" team will be racing their "PRS-754" Dodge Charger in this weekend's STP 400 action at the Kansas Speedway. "We're continuing to make progress with our new cars and this is another one of them," offered crew chief Addington.
#27-Paul Menard will pilot Chassis No. 351 from the RCR Sprint Cup Series stable. This #27 Chevy was a brand new addition to the RCR fleet for the 2011 season and was last seen on track at Texas where Menard brought home a fifth-place result after starting from the 19th position.
#29-Kevin Harvick: will race chassis No. 318 from the RCR Sprint Cup Series stable. The team utilized this race car three times in 2010, earning finishes of third (Kansas, October 3), eighth (Charlotte, October 16) and sixth (Texas, November 7).
#31-Jeff Burton will pilot chassis No. 355 from the RCR Sprint Cup Series stable. Built new for the 2011 season, this #31 racer was put through its first competitive paces at Darlington Raceway a few weeks ago. Burton was well on his way to posting his first top-10 effort this season but the engine on the Caterpillar Chevy expired with just under 20 laps remaining, resulting in a disappointing 33rd-place finish.
#33-Clint Bowyer: will pilot chassis No. 360 from the RCR Sprint Cup Series stable. This is a brand new Chevy that will be put through its first paces in this weekend's 400-mile contest.
#36-Dave Blaney: will drive the No. 78 chassis this weekend at Kansas Speedway. The Accell Construction team last ran the No. 78 at Richmond International Raceway and finished 13th, the team's best finish.
#39-Ryan Newman: Chassis No. 39-531: Chassis 39-531 has been like "Old Faithful" for the #39 team when it comes to the intermediate racetracks. In 14 starts, the car has one pole, five top-10 and eight top-15 finishes. This car debuted in 2009 at Charlotte in the Sprint All-Star Race, where Newman started 12th. He was battling for the lead with less than 10 laps to go when he got tangled up with two other cars and finished 18th. The car saw action three other times in 2009 at Chicagoland, Michigan and at Charlotte. In the offseason, the original body was cut off, the car was made lighter and the bodywork was rebuilt before chassis No. 39-531 returned to action in February 2010 at Auto Club Speedway. The car's next start came in March at Atlanta. The car's third start of 2010 came in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte. Michigan marked the car's fourth start of the season. Next up for 39-531 was a return trip to Chicagoland. After the Chicago race, a new front clip was placed on the car, echoing a new generation of race cars for Stewart-Haas Racing. Newman qualified sixth and finished eighth at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City in October 2010. Next up was Charlotte, where Newman crashed his superfast racecar into the turn-three SAFER Barrier on the second lap of the event, causing major damage to the No. 39 machine and resulting in a 36th-place finish. After extensive repairs at the race shop, the chassis returned for last year's season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, where Newman finished a strong seventh. During the offseason, the car's front clip was updated for 2011. So far this season, the chassis has seen action at Las Vegas and at Texas.
#42-Juan Pablo Montoya: Crew Chief Brian Pattie and the No. 42 Target team are bringing chassis #1105 to Kansas Speedway this weekend. This chassis has been used twice in 2011 at Texas and Darlington with finishes of 13th and 23rd respectively.
#43-A.J. Allmendinger: The #43 RPM team has prepared chassis No. 736 for this weekend's event at Kansas. This STP Ford has been run previously this season at Las Vegas and Richmond.
#48-Jimmie Johnson: will pilot brand new chassis No. 669 in Sunday's 267-lap race. Johnson finished 16th in backup chassis No. 623 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March.
#99-Carl Edwards: RK-768; New chassis
